President Bola Tinubu has designated Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Dattijo, previously the Commissioner of Budget and Planning during the tenure of former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has been appointed to this significant role.
Additionally, President Tinubu has taken the decision to replace all the former deputy governors who served under the former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele. Emefiele is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
During Emefiele’s tenure, the CBN had four deputy governors:
1. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, who temporarily assumed the role of acting governor following his suspension on June 9, 2023.
2. Aishah N. Ahmad, who served as Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability Directorate.
3. Edward L. Adamu, who held the position of Deputy Governor, Corporate Services Directorate.
4. Kingsley Obiora, who served as Deputy Governor, Economic Policy Directorate.
The Presidential spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed these appointments in an official statement released on Friday.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has given his approval for the nomination of four new Deputy Governors of the CBN, with an initial term of five (5) years, pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
Apart from Dattijo, the other nominees are: Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.
Please note that these appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
